The Friends of the Castlemaine Art Museum (CAM) aim to widen the audience ­­­­­­­­of the Gallery within the local communities, Victoria, interstate and overseas, and to raise funds to support the gallery.

For an additional one-off cost of $5 for financial CAM memberships, or for people taking out new memberships, you can join the Friends group and participate in the lively events planned, including the monthly CAM conversations, bus excursions, the annual Christmas lunch and other exciting and fun events in the company of like-minded art enthusiasts. Non-members are welcomed to the CAM Conversations and to any event not restricted to the Friends.

CAM Conversations

All CAM Conversations are from 3-5pm, usually on the last Sunday of the month

Sunday 30th September at 3pm, Claire Jager prize winning film maker is presenting her film, The Good Looker, about the artistic life and times of Joy Hester as remembered by her illustrious friends, Albert Tucker, Barbara Blackman, Charles Blackman, Mirka Mora, Barrett Reed and Michael Keon. Excerpts from Hester’s personal diaries and letters, drawings and photographs combine to bring together the astonishing life and work of Joy Hester,

Sunday 28th October at 3pm, Rob Murdoch will talk about his work with the NGV on Reproduction Frames: Behind the Scenes.

Sunday 25th November at 3pm, Godwin Bradbeer, is a New Zealand born artist now living in Australia. He has taught at various higher education facilities including the VCA, Monash and Melbourne Universities, He has had numerous solo, shared and group exhibitions and his work is held in various national collections and galleries in SEA and the USA. Godwin Bradbeer is a pillar in the genre of drawing in Australia, a figurative artist referencing the classical tradition whose work and place in Australian art has been widely acclained and recognised in a large number of publications.

Entry fee to these talks, which all include drinks and nibbles, is Friends $25, members of CAM $30, and members of the public $35

Bus Trips

Thursday 15th  November, join us on our bus trip to the Geelong Art Gallery to see the 2018 Archibald Exhibition, further details re costings will be sent by email next month.

Christmas Lunch

Sunday 9th December at 12md, FOCAM Christmas Lunch at Mica Grange (restricted to members of the Friends of CAM). Further details to be advised later via email.
