Deborah Klein
Out of the Past 1995-2007
5 April - 18 May 2008
This survey exhibition focuses on the evolution of Klein's
artistic practice through selected key works which represent
her major thematic concerns and preoccupation with feminine identity
and creative history. They include early Film Noir linocuts;
Tattooed Faces and Figures exploring women's sewing iconography;
elaborate braided hair and portrait miniatures incorporating
lace; large scale meticulous 'rear view' paintings; drawings,
combining decorative combs and voluminous hair; and the recent
monumental moth mask drawings.
